A cotton-candy, pink-painted Victorian house in London’s posh Primrose Hill neighborhood that is thought to have served as inspiration for “101 Dalmatians” is on the market.
For the first time in nearly 40 years, the eight-bedroom home is for sale, with an asking price of £8.95 million (US$11.1 million), according to a news release from listing agency Beauchamp Estates.

The house stands out to such an extent from its more demure neighbors that it’s known locally as "Pink House,” the release said. However, it’s not its facade that it’s most famous for but for its connection to Dodie Smith's 1956 novel "101 Dalmatians,” that went on to be adapted into the classic 1961 Disney movie.
The five-story spread is loaded with character and has decorative features, including cornicing, fireplaces and sash windows. There’s also a full-sized kitchen plus two kitchenettes, a study, a garden and a rooftop terrace, according to the listing.
Its location on Albert Terrace puts the house directly opposite Primrose Hill park, after which the surrounding neighborhood was named. Smith lived nearby and walked her own nine dalmatians along the street on her way to the park, and is thought to have used the house as inspiration for the family home where dalmatians Pongo and Perdita lived with their owners in the book, the release said.

“This large and spacious Primrose Hill house provides ample accommodation for a large family and the upper floors provide panoramic views over adjacent Primrose Hill park,” Rosy Khalastchy, associate director at Beauchamp Estates, said in the release. “This is a rare and outstanding opportunity to buy into the magic that is Primrose Hill.”
Mansion Global could not determine the owners of the home or how much they paid when they bought it.
