Resident sustains life-threatening injuries during Friday morning house fire - Canon City Daily Record

A local resident sustained life-threatening injuries during a house fire Friday morning.

The Cañon City Area Fire Protection District was dispatched at 10:20 a.m. to the scene of a mobile home that was possibly on fire in the 1400 block of Locust Street.

Lt. Shane Roberts said as fire crews arrived they found no signs of fire showing from the street.

“As they approached the home they found windows blackened from the inside and forced entry into the home,” he said. “During a primary search, firefighters located one adult inside the home.”

The individual was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire which caused extensive interior damage to the home, Roberts said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No firefighters were injured during this incident.

Roberts said there was a smoke alarm activating inside the home.
