A 2-year-old was killed in a house fire in Madisonville, Kentucky over the weekend.
Madisonville officials reported the 2-year-old to be Calvin Lynn Colson. Colson was rescued out of the home by firefighters, but later died from smoke inhilation.
Crews responded to the home on Meadowlark Lane around 8:30 p.m. on SundayCrews were dispatched to the house fire in the 200 block of Meadowlark Lane around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Officials said a 12-year-old and a 5-year-old made it safely out of the home.
These two able to make it out of the home thanks to an alert, young neighbor who was bouncing on a trampoline nearby.
“We ran to the front trying to tell them to get out as fast as possible, because the fire was getting bigger and bigger, and they still hadn’t gotten out, and then he called 9-1-1," said Gaige Leslie.
Fire officials told 44News a state investigation unit came into the home on Monday morning to locate the source of the fire, but they were unable to do so.
Madisonville firefighters said there were so many possible fuel sources in the home that it will most likely never be discovered what started the house fire.
Officials said the mother of the home had left the home just a few minutes prior to it catching fire.
