With CES 2021 fast approaching, it is not uncommon to see leaks of new chipsets and associated laptops doing the rounds. Xiaomi has been offering the Mi Notebook series for a while now and on occasions, even a Mi Notebook Pro. Going by leaked Geekbench listings unearthed by @TUM_APISAK, it seems that Mi Notebooks launching in 2021 could be powered by Intel 11th gen Tiger Lake Tiger Lake-H 35 W and AMD Cezanne processors.
Mi Notebook Pro with Tiger Lake-H
Leaked Mi Notebook Pro variants include ones based on the Intel Core i7-11370H and the Core i5-11300H. The Core i7-11370H — a 4C/8T part with a supposed base clock of 3.7 GHz and boost of 4.7 GHz — happens to have scored 1,572 and 5,065 points in single and multi-core runs of the benchmark, respectively.
A listing for a Core i3-11300H, which is also a 4C/8T processor but with a base clock of 3.11 GHz and boost of 4.3 GHz, was also spotted powering a Mi Notebook Pro on Geekbench. This listing indicates a single-core score of 1,436 and a multi-core score of 4,912 points.
We have reported earlier that Tiger Lake-H will come in both 35 W and 45 W variants. These Mi Notebook Pro models listed seem to be of the 35 W variety.
Comparing the leaked Core i5-11300H with the Comet Lake-H Core i5-10300H, we find that Tiger Lake-H offers up to a 16.3% increase in single-core but multi-core performance shows just a nominal 4.2% increase.
Though the Core i7-11370H is a 4C/8T part, it scores over 18% more in Geekbench 5 single-core compared to a Core i7-10750H but naturally loses out significantly in the multi-core score owing to lesser cores.
These are just a handful of numbers from a couple of processors, but they do give an impression that Intel is looking to focus more on single-core performance in Tiger Lake-H than offering substantial multi-core benefits.
Mi Notebook Pro with Ryzen 5 5600H
Mi Notebooks were historically limited to Intel processors but that may well change next year. A few listings of the Mi Notebook Pro with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H APU have also popped up on Geekbench. The latest such score shows the Cezanne processor scoring 1,362 in single-core and 5,994 points in multi-core.
As per the listing, the Ryzen 5 5600H is a 6C/12T part with a base clock of 3.3 GHz and a boost of 4.24 GHz.
At the outset, this seems to be a 36.7% increase in single-core and a 23% increase in multi-core performance over the Ryzen 5 4600H Renoir APU, which is quite substantial.
These initial observations indicate that Tiger Lake-H could have a 15-20% lead over corresponding AMD rivals in single-core performance. However, 35 W Tiger Lake-H will top-out at just four cores with only the 45 W variant going up to eight cores; the latter is expected to launch only sometime around Q2 2021.
As always, take such leaks with a pinch of the proverbial salt.
