House Fire in Cape Girardeau - KFVS

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Cape Girardeau Fire Department responded to 50 Centennial Dr. on Sunday morning, October 17, at 4:42 a.m. due to flames coming from the garage area of the residence.

According to Fire Chief Randy Morris, dispatch advised the house was determined to be on the city’s condemnation list.

The first fire truck that arrived found 95 percent of the house in flames.

Fire Chief Randy Morris said the crew defended the surrounding houses and enclosed the fire on the original house the fire started at.

When the second fire truck arrived they set up a elevated waterway.

The fire was contained for about 20 minutes.

Fire Chief Randy Morris also said the fire is considered suspicious.

After investigating the cause of the fire was undetermined.

An extensive extent of damage was made to the house with the estimated loss of $125,000.

One individual was treated and transported after receiving injuries from breaking a window.
