SOUTH HAVEN, MI -- Two people were injured following an explosion near South Haven that leveled a house.
Firefighters responded to the house, in the 7000 block of Second Avenue just east of South Haven, just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 25.
Authorities with South Haven Area Emergency Services said the explosion was heard by a state police trooper some two miles away as the trooper drove on I-196.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation. The ranch-style is in South Haven Township.
Authorities said a man and woman were rescued from the home, reportedly by neighbors.
They were taken to Bronson South Haven hospital for treatment. One of the victims was then transferred by helicopter to a South Bend hospital.
Fire departments in Bangor, Columbia Township and Ganges Township assisted in fighting the fire.
