But today, we want to imagine what things might have been like in opposite land, where the Toyota Supra cloned not a Z4 roadster, but an i8 supercar. Okay, okay, it is not a real supercar with that tiny 3-cylinder engine. But it has the doors of a supercar, right?
It's honestly not that fast and the ways you can tune it are limited, but the i8 is one notorious BMW. The model is also a hybrid, and we all know how much Toyota loves to hug its trees.
So, the year must be 2012, not 2020. At that time, BMW and Toyota were on good terms but did't have major collaborations. If the premise works for you, we suggest checking out this crazy rendering by @superrenderscars.
The artist from Israel took it upon himself to match the i8 with the front end from a Supra. The result is obviously different from anything else on the market, and that includes the i8 that recently faced the executioner's ax.
Instead of having an inline-6 over the front, this Supra would have relied on a lot of German battery technology and some kind of small engine at the back. It is possible that Toyota would have opted for something more exciting, perhaps the supercharged 1.8-liter in the rally-inspired Yaris GR. We can get behind that, though not at i8 prices.
