Millcreek house catches fire for second time - Deseret News
MILLCREEK — A home that caught fire in Millcreek over the weekend was again ablaze Thursday, damaging the neighboring houses on either side.
It was the third house fire on the street within a week, according to Unified Fire Authority.
Between 50 and 60 firefighters from four Salt Lake County agencies worked in extreme heat to extinguish the house fire near 3175 East and Celeste Way in Millcreek Thursday, which caught one adjacent structure on fire and damaged another.
“One central structure with most of the fire, has also caught the houses on either side of it on fire. This is the same house that caught fire Sunday afternoon,” said Patrick Costin, public information officer for the Unified Fire Authority.
It was unknown what caused the house to catch fire a second time, Costin said, including whether a hotspot from the previous blaze could have flared back up. The cause of Sunday’s fire is also under investigation.
Flames from the central house spread to the attic of one of the neighboring homes, but firefighters were able to stop the spread there, Costin said. The other home sustained minor damage to the exterior, such as melted siding.
