Bucks County house is reduced to rubble after an explosion - The Philadelphia Inquirer

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of an explosion that leveled a two-story house in Bucks County on Tuesday morning.

Police said the residents of the house on the 4300 block of Biddeford Circle in Buckingham Township were not home when neighbors reported hearing a boom around 9 a.m. No injuries were reported. The house did not catch on fire.

”Around 9, I just heard the loudest explosion,” said Pam Wahl, a neighbor.

Police said there were no gas lines into the house but that a propane tank had been filled earlier in the morning.

Neighbors said the basement in the now-destroyed home had been recently refinished.

”It was absolutely beautiful,” said Diane Clemens, who identified herself as a close friend and neighbor. She had run outside at the time of the explosion and turned to see the home in scraps.

Four people — parents and their two children — lived there, according to neighbors who picked up the phone to call the family and let them know what had happened.

“I think just about every neighbor here was calling them,“ Wahl said.

“She’s a real firecracker,” she said of the mother. “She’s real strong. But she was in shock. Like, being told your house blew up?”

Officials said fire marshals would try to determine the cause of the explosion.
