House of the Week: Built on 44 acres, Baldwinsville ranch is a ‘great family home’ - syracuse.com

Baldwinsville, N.Y. — “I love this place,” is how homeowner Lisa Tutor summed up a conversation about her family’s incredible property at 7356 West Sorrell Hill Road near Baldwinsville.

And why not? It has everything she ever wanted.

Moving to Central New York from Florida several years ago, she and her husband wanted to find some open property in which to build their dream home.

“It was something we always wanted,” she said.

In 2007, they purchased more than 44 acres from a farmer and hired an architect to put their plan into action.

The finished ranch, Tutor describes as “beautiful,” “easy” and “convenient.”

Tutor said that an open floor plan was very important to them.

“I did not want to be broken up,” she said.

The spacious family room, with gas fireplace and tall windows, which allows the natural light to pour in, Tutor says, “is where we gather.”

The kitchen, which is her favorite room, opens right into the dining room.

With a butler’s pantry, two dishwashers, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, a Wolf stove, double ovens, wine chillers and an extra-large island, the kitchen is perfect for parties.

“I can see everyone,” Tutor said.

Tutor says that some of her “Florida-influence” can be seen with the number of sliding glass doors which can be seen in the home.

Access to the back patio with its heated saltwater in-ground swimming pool and hot tub means from several points in the house, including the bedrooms, means the parties never stop and no one has to walk through the home with wet feet.

“It is just a great family home,” she said.

The sprawling property also allowed Tutor to continue her love of horses, which she called her “four-legged children.”

“They are just like members of the family,” she says with a laugh.

The grounds have everything that any horse enthusiast could want, including several large riding areas.

A horse barn on the property has seven, 12-foot-by-12-foot, stalls, a heated tack lounge with bathroom, a hay loft and wash stall.

Tutor says the home and the idyllic property are “our home and camp,” and hopes that any future owner enjoys it just as much as she has.

She thinks the time is right to downsize but she and her husband plan to stay in the area to be near their children.
