Early morning fire at Oxnard house displaces two - VC Star

Two people were displaced from their Oxnard home after a fire in their attic early Tuesday morning.

The fire was first reported at 1:14 a.m. by neighbors in the 1200 block of Indigo Place who saw the flames and smoke, according to the Oxnard Fire Department.

Fire crews arrived to see fire and smoke showing from the roof of a two-story home, said fire Assistant Chief Alex Hamilton. The blaze was put out by 1:27 a.m., he said.

The two residents were outside the home when firefighters arrived. No one was injured in the fire.

Between the fire and water used by crews, the two-story home was damaged enough to displace the residents. The Red Cross was called to assist.

The fire is still under investigation. The cause of the blaze and a damage estimate were not immediately available.
