Lake Erie beach houses are encased in ice after a winter storm over the weekend.
On Saturday, Feb. 29, 15-foot waves on Lake Erie coupled with gale-force winds covered beach houses with ice. Associated Press photographer Jeffrey T. Barnes visited Hoover Beach in Hamburg, New York, to capture the ethereal scene.
Ice hangs from roofs and railings, covers windows and doors, and even clings to the siding of houses in the path of lake spray. It has been estimated that it could take until May for the ice to melt.
As temperatures began to rise in Michigan over the weekend, New York was dealing with a winter storm that saw blowing snow throughout the state.
