JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

One person was transported to a local hospital after a house fire in Jefferson City.

According to a news release from the Jefferson City Fire Department, firefighters responded shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday to the 800 block of Mulberry Street.

Crews arrived to heavy smoke and fire.

A witness told authorities at the scene that there was someone possibly inside the home. Firefighters managed to find the resident and get them out of the fire.

Emergency crews transported the individual to a local hospital.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire. It is estimated to have caused $75,000 in damages.

The Jefferson City Police Department and Cole County EMS also responded to the incident. In total, 16 fire personnel responded with JCFD.
