TRUMBULL - Firefighters extinguished a fire Monday night that heavily damaged a Gatehouse Road house.

At 7:58 p.m., the Long Hill Fire Department, with the assistance of Trumbull Center and Nichols Fire departments, responded to Gatehouse Road for a reported structure fire.

The first arriving chief reported a working fire with heavy fire showing in a two-bay garage that has spread into the house.

Crews stretched 3 hose lines to knock down the fire.

After the fire was knocked down companies overhauled the structure and assisted the fire marshals.

Units cleared the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Trumbull EMS stood by on scene while Stepney and Huntington firefighters provided station coverage.

The American Red Cross assisted the occupants of the two-story home.

According to Trumbull property records, the 2,240-square-foot house was built in 1969. The nine-room house has four bedrooms.
